I'll Have some Dirt with That Please

Caught on CNN yesterday...So the company that makes Reef sandals now sells a sandal that contains its own flask in the sole. Retailing for about $46, the sandal has a screw on the side that opens into a thin flask. Supposedly marketing to the hiking group. Yeah, well, I've got alot of questions about this product, as did most of the people they interviewed on CNN. Is is really comfortable to be walking around with a flask on the bottom of your shoe? Reefs have been known to be very comfortable sandals. I have a pair, and they are great. But I can't imagine they would be with something stuck underneath your sole. How much "liquid" can they really hold? You'd need to have a size 15 for the amount of water a hiker might want. And...how many high schoolers and possibly, mid-schoolers, might think this is a great way to bring some other kind of refreshments into school? The dollar amount of $46 seems high for some, but not for the kids in this affluent area. But bottom line...would you really drink out of your shoe? Do you know where that foot's been?? Really. Oh yeah, great product.

Just have to say. Went to a Ranger-Yankee game last night. Great seats. Great company. Great handmade pretzel. Great hitting. 14 hits and 10 runs. Unfortunately, all were for the Yankees. The rookie Yankee pitcher had a no-hitter going into the 7th when he suddenly hurt himself and had to be pulled. It was a shame. I was actually rooting for the Yankees. (Sorry, Dan and Donna.) It seemed like a third of the stands left when they realized they wouldn't see a no-hitter. The Rangers did manage two hits after that. But it was fun, even though it seemed like we were surrounded by Yankee fans. Now I am a transplanted Yankee (though my roots have grown pretty deep here in Texas) and I was a Yankee fan growing up. We even went on a elementary school field trip to see a game at Yankee stadium. But I still feel like you've got to root for the home team, even when they stink. So though the better team won last night, I hope they don't win tonight. I'll support the home team, especially when they are the underdogs.

And why would a hiker want liquor, anyway? But it seems to me that if a teacher saw a kid drinking out of his shoe, well, that'd be an automatic trip to the office. Followed by no punishment as his parents threaten legal action for illegal search.

And why is my baseball team already out of it and we're only at May 2?

It's too early for this level of cynicism...

Craig bought a pair of Reef sandals in Hawaii last summer. He really likes them. I did see several models that sported a bottle cap opener in the sole. That was kind of funny - guess it was for those spring breakers or something. But drinking from a shoe? I agree - ewwwww.

Hey, Sue! I miss you! I know you are a ball fan - I still remember how you taught me the fundamentals in the backyard in Jersey.
Love!

My dad owns the bottle cap opener pair and so does Andy McQuitty, head pastor of Irving Bible. Guess it keeps you on your toes OR off of them depending on what you're opening and how many...
