Monday Morning

It's Monday and I really wanted to stay in bed this morning...at least for another 30 minutes. The weather is cooler and it's great sleeping weather. But I had a dream that I was late for school, so no sleeping in this morning. Why I am writing this blog, I don't know. My mind's been a little scattered lately. Lots floating around up there.

I'm missing Becca who is with my folks in Florida right now. She's there for a little comforting support for my mom whose knee replacement surgery didn't go as smoothly as she had hoped.

Have a lot of prayer requests out there for family members who are going through "life stuff."

It's funny how young couples are having the same money issues as most young couples have had in their marriages. But it's amazing to see how they deal with money problems when they bring God into the equation.

I'm loving my bible study in Ephesians right now with a fabulous group of ladies. I can't miss a Tuesday night.

Looking forward to this weekend and catching up with Dave and Penny.

I love the word "serendipitously." It makes lifes interesting.

Lately I'm thinking...why is change so hard for everyone?

Well, got to go. School is waiting and I can't be late.

Happy Monday!

An Anniversary to Remember

It was 34 years ago today. The setting was the Rutgers Student Center on the campus of Rutgers College, News Brunswick, New Jersey. The movie "Jesus Christ Superstar" was playing at the student center. The guy was an electrical engineer and the girl was a psychology major. The hair was a bit different than today. He had chops, and she had straight hair down her back. She was nervous, and if asked, he'd probably say the same. The night ended with a kiss on the stairs of her all-girl dorm.

October 24, 1974...our first date.

A Public Service Announcement

Get rid of your debit cards.

That's my advice to everyone after our family has been violated a second time in two months. My card number was used only once for $400 at a department store in Mexico. I was inconvenienced as I had to go into my bank to sign a fraud statement. The money was put back into my account within 10 days. A new card number was sent to me. In the meantime, I used a credit card.

Bob just came back from a business trip to Asia. He spent his birthday in Vietnam. He came home Saturday morning pretty tired. Saturday afternoon he gets a phone call from our bank's fraud alert department. Someone in New York, in just three hours at Macy's department store, spent $2658 with Bob's debit card number! Yeah. That's a chunk of change. Right out of our account. As Becca said, someone's walking around with some nice shoes. They used the card 9 times in 3 hours. Happy Birthday Bob.

We feel violated. We feel mad. We don't feel safe. You work hard. You put your money in a bank where you think it's safe. This really stinks. Bob will be inconvenienced now. He'll have to call the bank on Monday. (Why do these things happen on a weekend when you can't get any help?) The bank won't be able to do anything till all the charges post. All NINE of them! He'll have to leave work to go sign a statement, and then we wait till the bank "investigates." Whatever that means. This is a lot of money, so it may be a criminal investigation, who knows?

Whatever, it really stinks.
