Thought for the Day
From my morning devotional:
"Jesus Christ is no security against storms, but He is perfect security in storms. He has never promised you an easy passage, only a safe landing."
Happy Monday!
From my morning devotional:
There are numerous advantages to living in the same place for so many years. One of which is getting to "do life" (as Brent McKinney says) with many people. Last night, while dining at one of our favorite Thai restaurants, Noodle Swing, a couple, Russ and Mary, happened by on their way out of the restaurant. They stopped to chat, and ended up sitting for a bit as we had so much to catch up on. We met this couple and their three children when we attended another church some years ago. While we were at that church, we were all involved in a "puppet ministry" and made a trip one year to other areas of Texas, using puppets to spread the gospel. Our children were in middle and elementary school, and it was a lot of fun.
I'm blessed that Bob's job gives us the opportunity to travel abroad. As a young adult, many years ago, I wouldn't have thought I would be able to do this. The usual mode of travel as I was growing up was the family station wagon, plastered with stickers from all the states we had visited going across the country. Think National Lampoon's Family Vacation with Chevy Chase. We didn't stay in Hiltons, but rather Motel 6 or Howard Johnsons. If we weren't in a motel, we would be camping in our huge family tent. There were six of us and sometimes a friend or two. Was it fun? Oh yes! Loved it, but hated the unpacking when we got home. Worst part of the trip.
